I am etc. to acknowledge the
receipt of your letter No.F.2547/112/10
of the 7th of June containing a copy of
a despatch addressed by H.M. Consul
General at Canton to H.M. Minister at
Peking on the subject of arrangements
for the issue of denationalisation
certificates to Chinese British subjects
who wish to maintain their British
nationality in China.
2. The subject has been discussed
at an Interdepartmental Conference at
which Sir C. Clementi was present, and
it is clear that the action proposed by
Mr. Brenan has the full concurrence
of the Hong Kong Govt. It is understood
that the arrangements contemplated would
apply
